Dance Classes
Ballet is the backbone of everything we teach. Every other style builds on it.

Ages 3 and Up
Ballet
Ballet is often referred to as the backbone of dance. It is what builds a strong technical foundation for all forms of dance. Ballet is used to tell a story relying heavily on technique and requires an enormous amount of diligence and dedication. Each classical ballet class will begin with barre work, to refine muscular and technical skill. After the barre, the class will spend time working on skills either across the floor or in the center.
At Donna's Studio of Dance, our ballet classes are open to all ages and skill levels. If you're a beginner, then we'll teach you the foundational skills you need. If you're more advanced, then we'll help take your skills to the next level.

Ages 6 and Up
Jazz
Jazz is a very fun and energetic type of dance, and offers the dancer the chance to showcase personality through a very stylized form of dance. All levels of jazz focus on basic technique fundamentals. Each class will build upon isolations, leaps, kicks and turns using variations across the floor as well as center combinations. Every class will begin gradual warm-ups to strengthen each major muscle group as well as fine tune each dancer's technical abilities. We will introduce different styles and different pieces of choreography to help develop each dancer's ability to assimilate choreography and apply style to his or her own style of movement.
Our jazz dance classes are open to all ages and skill levels. Every level emphasizes strength, isolations, syncopated rhythms, and precision. Contact Donna's Studio of Dance today to learn more.

Ages 3 and Up
Tap
Tap dance is probably best known for the type of shoes the dancers wear. Tap dancers wear special shoes with metal taps on the soles that allow them to create their own sounds while they dance. All levels of tap focus on articulation of the feet in order to make crisp, clear sounds. Dancers will begin by learning basic tap steps, which they will gradually build upon as they advance in levels. Each tap class will begin with a warm-up at the barre that will also strengthen dancers' feet, ankles, and shins, before moving to the center or across the floor to continue building his or her technical level. Dancers will be challenged through variations of steps and different pieces of choreography to improve assimilation as well as develop special trick steps.
Donna's Studio of Dance tap dance classes are open to all ages and skill levels. If you're a beginner, then we'll teach you the foundational skills you need. If you're more advanced, then we'll help take your skills to the next level.

Ages 3 and Up
Hip Hop
Hip-hop is a style of dance that evolved from none other than the hip-hop culture and is typically danced to, of course, hip hop music. This style of dance is probably the most different from the other forms. It is generally very energetic and allows the dancer to have freedom of movement within the routine and incorporate their personalities. All levels of hip-hop will build up technique in order to develop specialized and refined movements. Not only will dancers learn the fundamentals of hip-hop, but they will also learn how to assimilate quickly and transition from one move to the next.
At Donna's Studio of Dance, our hip hop classes are open to all ages and skill levels. If you're a beginner, then we'll teach you the foundational skills including the grooves you need to know. If you're more advanced, then you can look forward to more advanced choreography including lyrical hip hop along with east and west coast styles.

Ages 7 and Up (Prior experience required)
Lyrical
Lyrical dance blends the techniques of jazz and ballet to create expressive movement that tells a story and conveys emotion. This class helps dancers develop the ability to connect their technical skills with artistic expression. All levels focus on building a solid foundation in ballet and jazz, emphasizing strong, controlled leg work combined with fluid, dynamic movement. Dancers are encouraged to also take ballet and/or jazz to support their lyrical training.

Ages 3 and Up
Tumbling
Tumbling is the execution of acrobatic movements such as rolls, twists, handsprings or somersaults on floormats or on the ground. This class encourages children to explore such movements in a fun and safe environment. Students will work to develop coordination, mobility and skills, moving at their own pace and advancing as they master new skills. Focus will be on correct body form, control, technique, and learning how to properly execute each skill.
Our tumbling classes are open to all ages and skill levels. If you're a beginner, then we'll teach you the foundational skills you need. If you're more advanced, then we'll help take your skills to the next level. What are you waiting for? Contact Donna's Studio of Dance today to learn more.

Acro
Acro brings together dance technique and acrobatic skill, teaching dancers to move through balances, limbers, walkovers and handsprings with control and artistry. Every class starts with a thorough warm-up and conditioning to build the strength and flexibility these skills require, then moves into progressions where each dancer works at her own pace on floor mats with hands-on spotting.
Our acro classes are open to ages 3 and up and to every skill level. Beginners learn safe body position and the basics first, and more experienced dancers keep building toward advanced tricks and how to blend them smoothly into choreography.

Ages 8 and Up
Poms
Poms is high-energy team dance built on sharp, precise motions performed with pom poms. Dancers work on clean arm placement, timing, formation changes and the kind of unison that makes a routine look effortless from the audience, all set to upbeat popular music.
This class is a great fit for dancers who love performing as part of a group, and it pairs especially well with jazz or hip hop. Expect plenty of kicks, leaps and crowd-pleasing choreography along with a real focus on teamwork and showmanship.
