Meet Our Instructors
Donna Lamm - Owner
Donna studied ballet and modern dance at UNLV under the instruction of Vassili Sulich, founder of the Nevada Dance Theater. She was also a member of the first performing troupe of the UNLV Contemporary Dance Theater.
Donna subsequently taught pottery and dance at the then brand new Clark County Community College. Upon her move to Pahrump in the late 1970’s she became an instructor for the outreach program and taught dance in the Pahrump and Amargosa Valleys before starting her own studio in 1979. In 1993 Donna was a founding member of the Pahrump Visual and Performing Arts Council (PVPAC) and president for the first two years. She participated in numerous programs sponsored by PVPAC bringing instruction and demonstrations of dance, pottery and sculpture to the classrooms of Pahrump.
Donna is the owner/broker of Provenza Realty, and she also owns Donna’s Studio of Dance and Pahrump Valley Pottery. Always active in the community, she has served on numerous advisory boards and commissions over the years including the Nevada State Conservation Commission and she is currently a member of the Nye County Water District Governing Board. Donna has been an active advocate for the art, culture and natural resources of the Pahrump Valley.
Kathy Eason - Director
Kathy began her dance career at the age of 6 at Fishback Studio of the Dance in Albuquerque, NM. In high school Kathy became a dance teachers’ assistant and earned the privilege to teach after extensive years of Cecchetti student and teacher exams in ballet grades 1-5. During her summer college years she spent time at dance conventions in Chicago, New York, and Denver. Kathy also taught tap in an outreach program for low-income families in Albuquerque.
After graduation from college, she moved to Colorado Springs to teach high school home economics at Air Academy High School. She continued dancing and teaching at a studio directed by Ron and Roxanne Huff. Kathy also danced in a semi-professional dance company for two years.
Kathy and her husband moved to Pahrump in 1982. She began teaching home economics at Pahrump Valley High School in 1984 and has worked with Donna since 1994. Kathy retired from the school system in 2009 and is currently devoting her time as director and teacher at Donna’s Studio of Dance.
Chandini has been dancing for twenty-six years. She was trained in London with further training in South India. She also teaches Yoga. Chandini has taught in dance studios, schools, and outreach programs in UK and in Los Angeles. She has been teaching in Pahrump for many years.
Chandini teaches a classical Eastern Indian dance from South India Bharata Natym. This is a rhythmic dance with intricate footwork filled with facial expression. Chandini’s dance style includes storytelling through dance and drama.
Alisa began her dance career at the age of seven in 1984. She combined her love of dance with a desire to become active in musical theatre, both are a passion that have continued throughout her life. Alisa’s initial dance classes were with Creative Kids (later to become the Children’s Dance Workshop) in San Marcos, CA with instructor Grace Ann Etchebarria-Jacobs. She began with ballet and tap and as she advanced, she incorporated jazz and pointe into her repertoire.
In 1990, Alisa’s family moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ. She was unable to find a local instructor until Grace Ann also moved to Lake Havasu City, where she re-opened the Children’s Dance Workshop (now called Arizona Coast Performing Arts). Alisa began teaching in 1991 at this studio as well as continuing with her own classes. She completed her training with Grace Ann in 1995 when she moved to Las Vegas, NV to continue her studies in musical theatre at the University of Nevada Las Vegas.
Alisa began performing musicals at the Moonlight Amphitheater in Vista, CA and performed in many musicals in Lake Havasu City, AZ. Some of the musicals she performed in are: The Wiz, Lil Abner, Annie, Cinderella, Wizard of Oz, Carousel, Fiddler on the Roof, and Music Man.
While attending UNLV, Alisa took dance classes including ballroom, where she learned American and International Styles, as well as, Salsa, Swing and Argentine Tango. In 1996 she was a member of UNLV’s ballroom dance formation team and danced in many competitions.
Alisa retired from dancing and theatre in 1997 so she could start a new career as wife and mother. In 2010 she was able to resume dancing and began attending classes at Donna’s Studio of Dance in Pahrump, NV. And in 2012, Alisa joined the teaching staff at Donna’s Studio of Dance and has been enjoying every minute of sharing her passion and knowledge in ballet, pointe, jazz, clogging, tap, lyrical and modern dance.
Jessica started dancing at age 5 practicing tap with her grandmother and the Nevada Silver Tappers until she moved to Beatty at age 12. Unfortunately, Beatty does not have any dance classes to offer for kids so her dance career was put on hold. Jessica started clogging at Donnas Studio of Dance in 2009 and three months later she joined the advanced class. She has been clogging for 5 years and began ballet in 2013.
Jessica has a passion for dance and claims that if she could have any job in the world it would be to become a professional dancer. Jessica’s favorite quotes are “Without dance, what’s the pointe” and “Nobody starts out great. Let yourself be a beginner” which Jessica believes every new dancer no matter their age should keep in mind!
Shelby took her first dance class at Donna’s Studio of Dance at the age of six. Since then she has taken many classes including ballet, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, and tap. In 2016, Shelby became an assistant for several classes, and has become an instructor. She has been a member of the Pahrump Valley High School dance team since her freshman year. Although she truly loves all styles of dance, hip hop and sassy jazz are at the top of her list! Shelby has a passion for dance and enjoys sharing her knowledge with others.
Kyrstyn was born in Las Vegas, NV and moved to Pahrump before she was 1. She spent most of her life as a cheerleader, both at school and briefly in competition cheer. Kyrstyn started taking dance lessons at age 9 thru Donna’s Studio of Dance, where she found a love of dance. She has continued her dance education by taking many classes including ballet, jazz, pointe, hip hop and tumbling.
In 2016 Kyrstyn was a substitute dance teacher for several classes, and is looking forward to starting her teaching journey this year (2017) at Donna’s Studio of Dance. She is currently on the Pahrump Valley High School dance team, Pahrump Valley Jr/Sr High School Rodeo Team, and is also a member of the Pahrump Valley Rough Riders. Kyrstyn has a passion for dance, loves life and enjoys sharing her knowledge with others.
Gary started his dance journey in January 2016 at Sophia of Sapphire Dance in Las Vegas. Sophia Konstantinovna is the 2018 US National Professional Rhythm Champion, and the founder of Sophia of Sapphire Dance. Gary’s original intention was to learn how to dance Ballroom Rhythm (Latin), but after four months he entered into the Pro/Am NV Ball Dance Sport Classic which was held in August 2016. He won six first place awards for six classes. Gary then switched to Ballroom Smooth dancing which won his heart. Ballroom Smooth dance includes Slow Waltz, Fox Trot, Tango, and Viennese Waltz. Since December 2016, he has competed in Pro/Am competitions at the M Resort, Tropicana, and the Luxor Hotel Casino Ballrooms. He has won 23 of 26 dance performances, and continues to compete at various venues in and out of the state.
Sharon has always loved to dance, even as a child. She was born in Fort Worth, Texas, the first of four children. She started tap dancing at age 14, with her two younger sisters. She continued her dance journey with Modern dance, becoming a majorette, swirling fire batons, and theater acting. As a child, Sharon became captivated with Ballroom dancing while watching Lawrence Welk on TV. In 1998 she began her Ballroom journey. Sharon started performing in numerous dance studio showcases, she learned to perform competitive dance, and then started competing in Ballroom competitions around several states. She has won numerous awards and trophies for these performances over the years. In 2004, while living in Fresno, CA, Sharon joined the local chapter of the National Smooth Dancers organization, and it was there that she learned she had a talent for teaching and inspiring others to dance. She took courses to learn proper teaching techniques and started taking lessons with U.S. Ballroom Championship dancers. Sharon now teaches American style Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Cha Cha, Rumba, E.C. Swing, Bolero, Samba, Salsa, Nightclub 2-Step, and Merengue. Sharon has also joined the Nevada Silver Tappers. She loves to dance, loves to teach, and loves to make dancing fun.
